Don’t Delete That ‘Lopez Voice Assistant’ Email — It’s About Apple’s Siri Settlement
If you’ve received an email with the subject line ‘Lopez Voice Assistant Class Action Settlement,’ it’s likely a notification that you’re eligible for part of a $95 million payout. The settlement stems from allegations that Siri-enabled devices were used to spy on private conversations. The lawsuit, Lopez v. Apple Inc, filed in 2019, claimed that Apple violated user privacy by recording conversations and sharing them with third-party contractors. Apple agreed to the settlement earlier this year but denied the allegations. To be eligible, you must have owned a Siri-enabled device in the U.S. between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024, and experienced Siri activating on its own during private conversations. You can claim up to $100 per device, with a maximum of five devices, by visiting the settlement website by July 2, 2025.
